Caring for Your Encaustic Art Work

Like any piece of fine art, encaustic paintings should not be hung in direct sunlight or kept in extreme temperatures. During the first year you may notice a “bloom” and your painting may be a bit cloudy. This is a normal occurrence during the curing process of the beeswax medium.  Using a soft cloth, you can buff the surface which will renew the shine. Once fully cured, your encaustic will be completely archival and will harden to a beautiful finish.
